Samsung's Safety Truck

Samsung Electronics is taking mobile technology to a whole new level.  Earlier last week, they introduced the Samsung Safety Truck: a semi-truck equipped with a screen mounted the back of the trailer. The screen projects a live feed from a camera placed near the semi's driver, showing exactly what lies ahead in both lanes.  This feature would be especially beneficial on single-lane highways and roads, where passing large semis can be dangerous due to oncoming traffic when overtaking the opposite lane and could benefit the driver following behind in the event of sudden braking.

Samsung's Safety Truck consists of a wireless camera placed near the truck driver. The video is then fed to a video wall on the back of the truck assembled from four exterior monitors.  The equiptment is built with night vision capabilities, allowing the driver following behind the truck to see the road ahead, day or night.

While the feature is still in its conceptual stages, Samsung representatives are looking forward to the next step, which will include a series of tests and studies in order to acheive the necessary permits and approvals from the governments and safe driving NGO's. The following is a video hosted on Samsung's YouTube channel featuring the truck on the single-lane roads of Argentina.
